Deb England completed her practicum and internship at Morning Star Alliance, working in the Broken Bow and Grand Island offices. She began working part-time for Wholeness Healing Center in September 2004 and began full-time in May 2005. Deb taught high school English since 1977, resigning in May 2005 to work full-time as a therapist. Deb practices primarily in the Broken Bow office and one day a week in the Grand Island office.

Education
Deb graduated from Kearney State College with a Bachelors of Arts in Education with a major in English Education and a minor in Art. She later completed a Masters of Arts in English Education also from Kearney State College. She earned a Masters of Science in Counseling and School Psychology in 2002 from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and she then completed the requirements for her community counseling license the same year.

Experience
Deb taught English and Art for many years to high school students, Art to elementary and junior high students and during that time, also worked as Asst. Speech and Drama Coach, Annual Staff and Newspaper advisor, and was a Quiz Bowl coach. She has been a Girl Scout Leader and a volunteer at I Believe in Me Ranch in Kearney. Deb was a foster and is an adoptive parent and this began her journey to learn more about working with families who are struggling.

Deb has attended workshops in Attachment Disorder, Play Therapy, Methamphetamine Abuse, Behavioral Problems in Traumatized Children, Differential Diagnosis, Psychodrama, Childhood-Onset Bi-Polar Disorder, Love and Logic, and Psychopharmacology. She has attended attachment and bonding trainings by Nancy Thomas, Dr. Liz Randolph, Nancy Thompson, and Katherine Leslie.

Deb is a member of the Nebraska Counseling Association.

Trainings
Deb has presented to many schools concerning teaching children with oppositional behaviors and attachment disorder, including Callaway High School, Ravenna Public Schools, Sargent Public Schools, Burwell Elementary School, Broken Bow Elementary Schools, elementary schools and day cares in Grand Island, as well as presenting to the Omaha Public Schools with Janie Watson on how to incorporate strong sitting in the classroom. She has also participated in presentations to support groups and to NAFPA. She enjoys helping others learn how to parent difficult children.

Special Areas
Deb loves the work involving families and is drawn to children with attachment disorder. She has attended many workshops in this area, and she has presented to schools and support groups about working with children who have suffered abandonment, abuse, and neglect in their lives. She enjoys integrating the neurological piece, working with the Brain Gym modality, and guiding parents to help their children to heal.

Deb enjoys especially working with teens and their families, as they learn how to accept ownership of their actions, discover and become more at ease with who they are, learn to accept and verbalize their feelings, and as they set out to find their places in the world.

Deb also works with young parents and their infants and toddlers, integrating the neurological development that should happen in the early years. Since attachment can be affected by neglect, abuse, over or under-stimulation, fear, abandonment, and numerous other life things, it may be necessary to implement other exercises and modalities to help the child heal. Deb has worked with parents and children as young as 2 weeks to help create a plan to assist parents who are hoping to prevent any attachment disruption in their child’s life or to off-set the wounds already created.

Deb has completed the Critical Incident Stress Management Training and is a meber of the CISM team out of North Platte.

Personal
In her leisure time, Deb likes to ride horses and currently owns three, all paint horses. She also relaxes by reading and writing, mostly poetry. She loves racing and raced go-karts competitively for over 20 years. She enjoys watching NASCAR and most oval track racing. She also enjoys water sports, especially kayaking, racquetball, hiking, fishing and camping, as well as collecting art, especially Native American pieces, as her Cherokee and Cheyanese heritage are an integral part of her life.
